The California Art Club, established 1909, is pleased to announce the 101st Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition of fine art
at the Autry National Center, April 1 – 22, 2012.
The exhibit opens with a Artists Gala Reception on Saturday, March 31st from 6 – 9 p.m. The opening reception is a ticketed event
through the California Art Club.
This exhibition is an excellent display of contemporary-traditional fine art spotlighting sculpture and paintings of genres
ranging from pristine California landscapes, cityscapes, and seascapes
to figures and still- lifes.
For the first time the exhibition will be located at the revered Autry Center in Los Angeles.
The 101st Annual Gold Medal Exhibition will feature more than 200 representational works of art from renowned traditional fine artists
who have been active in expanding interest in the plein air heritage associated with the organization’s beginnings in 1909.
The Club’s founding artists, who were attracted to California from the Midwest and East Coast by the region’s natural beauty
and year-round sunshine, gave birth to the artistic movement now referred to as California Impressionism.
